95 Express Lanes
The 50 kilometre (31 mile) 95 Express Lanes are tolled, reversible lanes operating alongside free lanes on Interstate 95 in Northern Virginia.
Serving Washington DC and its suburbs, 95 Express Lanes operate from Stafford County to Fairfax County and connect with our 495 Express Lanes.
The 95 Express Lanes use innovative dynamic pricing, with toll rates based on traffic speed and density to keep traffic moving at least 55mph (convert). Vehicles with 3 or more passengers, buses and motorcyclists travel for free.
Completion date
The 95 Express Lanes opened to traffic in 2014.
Ownership
The lanes are 100 per cent Transurban owned.

495 Express Lanes
The 22 kilometre (14-mile) 495 Express Lanes are tolled lanes operating on the Capital Beltway, the ring road around Washington DC. The dual lanes run alongside free lanes between the Springfield Interchange to north of the Dulles Toll Road and connect with our 95 Express Lanes.
The 495 Express Lanes use innovative dynamic pricing, with toll rates based on traffic speed and density to keep traffic moving at least 45mph (convert). Vehicles with 3 or more passengers, buses and motorcyclists travel for free.
Completion date
The 495 Express Lanes opened to traffic in 2012.
Ownership
The lanes are 100 per cent Transurban owned.

395 Express Lanes
The 395 Express Lanes Project will extend the northern end of the 95 Express Lanes for 13 kilometres (8 miles) – to the Washington DC border.
Benefits
The 395 Express Lanes project will:
- reduce congestion within the I-395 corridor
- offer new travel choices
- generate as many as 600 new jobs during construction and as much as US$500 million in economic activity
- improve travel time for carpoolers
- provide US$15 million in dedicated annual funding for local transit service improvements
- enhance Pentagon access
- improve travel in regular lanes
Timing and cost
Construction began in 2017 and the lanes are set to open late 2019.
Funding for this US$475 million project is primarily from toll revenue and private investment. The project is being delivered in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Fredericksburg Extension
The Fredericksburg Extension project is extending the existing reversible 95 Express Lanes south by 16 kilometres (10 miles) along the I-95 median.
The project includes new access points to the existing I-95 Express Lanes, new ramps, and seven new bridges. We have also committed to complete an Envision sustainability rating for the project from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
Benefits
The Fredericksburg Extension project will:
- increase I-95 peak capacity by 66 per cent
- provide faster and easier access to Quantico, supporting 28,000 workers
- improve travel times across all lanes
- deliver US$1.1 billion in economic activity during construction
Timing and cost
Construction is expected to begin in early 2019.
Financial close on this US$565 million project is scheduled for the first half of 2019.

A25
The A25 is a 7.2 kilometre toll road and bridge connecting Northern Montreal across the Rivière des Prairies to commercial and residential areas.
The A25 includes six kilometres of four-lane road and a 1.2 kilometre, six-lane bridge over the Rivière des Prairies.
Completion date
The A25 opened in May 2011.
Ownership
This road was bought by Transurban in 2018. The A25 is 100 per cent Transurban owned and is under concession until 2042.
