Today we launched connected and automated vehicles (CAV) trials in Brisbane.

The trial will involve partially automated vehicles and will build on our trials in Victoria and New South Wales.

The brains trust for the trial includes Brisbane City Council, the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety Queensland, the Department for Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Police and the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland.

We’ll also be working closely with the car manufacturers involved from Audi, BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Toyota and Volvo.

The CAVs will be trialled under varied driving conditions and at different times of the day to see how they interact with Brisbane’s motorways.

The on-road trials will begin next week and finish in late November, with results of the trial to be published next year.
