About Authority to Work
Authority to Work (ATW) Permits
Transurban operates a number of Sydney toll roads, including:
- Cross City Tunnel (CCT)
- Eastern Distributor (ED)
- Hills M2
- Lane Cove Tunnel / Military Road E-Ramp (LCT)
To ensure that we maintain a safe environment for our customers, staff, and contractors anyone who accesses or undertakes work on these Transurban roads require an approved ATW Permit prior to accessing the site.
Below are some examples of the kinds of access or work activities which will require an ATW Permit:
- Public Utility Plant Installation
- Developer Works
- Advertising Signage (incl. signage erected on boundary fences)
- Site Surveys
- Special Events (e.g. Fun Runs, Sporting Events)
- Works on Transurban boundary
- Maintenance Works

How do I apply for a Work Permit?
Anyone can apply online for a Transurban ATW Permit using the new, simple permit application in Maximo. The end-to-end process consists of three phases: Register, Apply and Submit. For assistance with the end-to-end process, please refer to this step-by-step ATW Simple Permit guide with detailed instructions.
All parties applying for an ATW permit are required to first register with the system. There is a once-off registration required to access the system, for those who have never applied for an access or work permit with Transurban. Anyone who has previously submitted an access or work permit application to Transurban will not need to register (including those submitted through our previous system, Permitted).

Once registered, you will be provisioned with credentials to login and apply for a permit. All users registered in our previous system, Permitted, should have been emailed their pre-provisioned credentials. If you did not receive this email, please contact our ATW support team on: ATW-NSW@transurban.com.

Once your ATW permit application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. Please allow 10 days for processing.
