Our roads

Transurban Group partners with governments to meet the long-term transportation infrastructure needs of communities, with a focus on sustainability, safety, innovation and efficiency.

We believe our responsibility as a private partner goes beyond financial structuring, concrete and steel - our focus is on developing solutions that not only meet today’s needs but continually adapt to meet the changing needs of the community.

Transurban began operating in the United States in 2006 with a concession to operate a toll road in Virginia - Pocahontas 895. In early 2009, it started constructing a direct link from Pocahontas 895 to the fast-growing Richmond International Airport. The Richmond Airport Connector Road opened to traffic in early 2011.

Transurban is also constructing High Occupancy Toll lanes (HOT) - the 495 Express Lanes - on the Capital Beltway in Virginia to ease traffic on one of the most congested corridors in the US. Learn more

We have also reached an in-principle, non-binding agreement with the Commonwealth of Virginia on a project to create HOT lanes on the I-95 in northern Virginia. Learn more
